I-40 CRASH SUNDAY SENDS TWO TO UT MEDICAL CENTER

According to reports, a pickup truck struck the side of a van which was traveling eastbound on I-40 near mile marker 322 early Sunday night. The driver of the pickup, a 73-year-old man, was was ejected through the windshield. Both he and his 69-year-old wife received multiple injuries. Both lanes of the interstate had to be closed down for a time while Lifestar helicopters landed to transport both to UT Medical Center. Their condition is unknown. A 19-year-old female from Pennsylvania, who was a passenger in the van, was taken to Cumberland Medical Center for evaluation.  The identities of the victims have not been released yet.
