HUNDREDS ATTEND MEMORIAL FOR BELOVED MUSIC DIRECTOR MARTY GIBSON
Hundreds of friends, family and fellow parishioners attended the memorial service for beloved music director Marty Gibson today. Marty died last week when his car veered of 127 south between Dunlap and Pikeville and struck a tree as he was driving home to Crossville from a vacation in Florida. It is believed Marty may have had a sudden medical trauma that caused him to lose control. The memorial was held at the outdoor pavilion of the United Methodist Church in Fairfield Glade where Marty served as Music Director for the past several years. Marty was also the director of the Cumberland County Community Chorus.
For the past several years Marty performed with his lifelong fellow musician Terry Ashburn as a duo known as the Relics. He performed with a four-piece dance band, City Lites and a barbershop quartet called Three Good Looking Guys that perform regularly in the Upper Cumberland and East/Middle Tennessee areas. Marty was the choral director at Cumberland County High School from 1982- 2001

Mr. Gibson was a great teacher, there was never a dull moment in his choir class. I’m sure those who had the honor to know him outside of the classroom was tremendously blessed.
