UNPRECEDENTED: CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES JOIN TOGETHER IN PETITION TO COUNCIL

In an unprecedented move and a sign of unity, seven of the eight Crossville City Council candidates have signed a petition requesting the current Council to wait until after the November elections to hire a new City Manager.  One of the candidates, Jerry Brownstead, put the petition together and sought signatures from the remaining field.  Brownstead plans to present the petition to the City Council at their next meeting this Thursday night.

Only one Council candidate, J.H. Graham III, declined to sign the petition saying it would be unfair to the current Council for them to not be able to vote on the new City Manager according to Brownstead.  The City is currently taking applications for city Manager until September 30th.

The candidates who have signed the petition include: Jerry Brownstead, David Warner, Scott Shanks, Terri Manning, Rob Harrison, Charles Cooper and Jeanette Parsons. Brownstead, who has never run for office before, told CNF “the everyday taxpaying, property owner in this town has been neglected and overlooked and forgotten for too long..Maybe I’ll be able to at least open eyes to that fact and give the voters an alternative non connected candidate to vote for”
