HOW SMITH COUNTY NATURAL GAS PIPELINE RUPTURE COULD AFFECT CROSSVILLE CUSTOMERS
A natural gas pipeline issue in Middle Tennessee could impact gas bills in East Tennessee including Middle Tn Natural Gas which serves Cumberland and surrounding counties
Both Knoxville Utilities Board and Lenoir City Utilities Board issued statements about the burst pipeline in Smith county TN on December 15th. LCUB said its prices will go up for 6,300 natural gas customers but officials aren’t sure how much or for how long. CNF reached out to Middle Tn Natural Gas in Crossville to find out what effect, if any, the ruptured pipeline in Smith county would have on their customers. Middle Tennessee Natural Gas told us they have a diverse source of natural gas, more than most utilities, and did not expect a problem…as long as it doesn’t turn extremely cold. If that happens there may be a need for customers to dial back gas usage temporarily until the Smith County pipeline is back in service. PREVIOUS STORY ON PIPELINE RUPTURE HERE
