HIWAY 70 CRASH UPDATE: MOTHER AND 4-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER, STABLE AFTER SURGERY

At least two people were airlifted to an area trauma center after a head-on collision Wednesday morning in Cumberland County. The call came in shortly before 8 AM for an accident in the 5700 block of Highway 70 East. According to sources, 33-year-old Amy Sherrill of Crab Orchard crashed head on into an oncoming vehicle. She had to be extricated from the wreckage. Her 4-year-old daughter Jasmine, riding in the back seat, was also injured.  Both were transported to Cumberland Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and then flown to UT Medical Center where both mother and daughter underwent surgery.   Their conditions have been reported as stable. The driver of the other vehicle, 45 year-old Dennis Jones of Rockwood, received non-life threatening injuries. According the THP preliminary report, Sherrill was going around a curve heading west when her Nissan crossed the center line hitting a Chevy Impala being driven by Jones.
