HINDS FACES LONG LIST OF CHARGES IN HIT-N-RUN DEATH OF POLICE OFFICER

The woman wanted in the deadly hit-and-run of a Chattanooga Police Officer is now facing multiple charges following her surrender Monday morning.

Janet Elaine Hinds now faces nine charges including vehicular homicide.

According to court records, Hinds was traveling on Hamill Road at a high speed during poor weather conditions Saturday night.

Hinds then hit a warning sign that was placed by police before hitting Officer Nicholas Galinger, who was responding to an overflowing manhole.

The 38-year-old officer was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Galinger had just recently graduated from the police academy.

Janet Elaine Hinds’ bond was set at $300,000 with stipulations from the judge to include house arrest and no driving.
