HIGH SPEED CHASE FROM CROSSVILLE TO PLATEAU ROAD LANDS ONE IN JAIL

A Cumberland County man racked up 51 counts of reckless endangerment after a high speed chase through Crossville Friday. Deputies observed a vehicle traveling erratically on East First St and the driver, 31-year-old Joseph Randall Rolen continued to swerve around vehicles and ran a stop sign and light on Webb Ave. Several more deputies joined the chase after Rolen pulled onto Main St, then onto Livingston Rd. and Highway 70 North at speeds that were clocked in excess of 110 mph. Authorities deployed spike strips in an area close to Plateau Rd. and Rolen lost control of the vehicle after hitting them. A female passenger in the car was thrown free while Rolen fled the vehicle into nearby woods. He was discovered hiding in a pond and threatened deputies with a cell phone raised in the air to look like a gun. Rolen was taken down by a taser.  Two small bags of meth, an empty holster and a full clip of .40 caliber ammo was found inside the vehicle. After watching a video of the chase, authorities observed Rolen pass 51 vehicles in a reckless manner. He is also charged with assaulting two officers and resisting arrest. (105.7 News)
