Rescue crews on scene say they’ve rescued two workers from the trench and are working to rescue a third, trapped to at least his waist in dirt.

The Knoxville Volunteer Rescue Squad’s heavy rescue team is on site, working to shore the sides of the ditch to prevent another cave-in.

Medical crews are inside the ditch providing assistance to the trapped worker.

Roane County Emergency Services Director Scott Stout says the workers are from Danson Construction and are contracted to work on sewer lines for the county.
