GONG SHOW NOW IS ‘GONE SHOW’, HOLLYWOOD CALLED AND SAID ‘STOP IT’

The annual ‘Gong Show’ presented by the Fair Park Senior Center is scheduled for this Friday night.  Only it’s not called the Gong Show any longer.  Apparently, representatives from the original Gong Show game show contacted the local presenters and advised them the Gong Show title is copyrighted.  If the call went like most copyright calls go, the Gong reps asked that the Senior Center cease and desist using the title or pay a big fee or change the name.  That’s what the Center did – changed the name to “The Gone Show”.  Although it might seem petty for the Hollywood big shots wanting to interfere with a local fund-raiser, we think the new name is more fitting anyway since contestants either make it through their act or they’re ‘GONE’.  Everything else is the same though.  Lots of acts, lots of laughs and fun.  Judges for this years event include Sheriff Casey Cox, Cumberland Jamboree host Walter Tollett and local entertainer Carrie Hassler.  MC for the event this year is Tony Perry of Star Recording Studio.  Several acts are scheduled to compete for cash and prizes along with other talent on hand for fill-in entertainment.  The Gone show starts at 7pm Ct Friday night at the Palace Theater.  Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at Fair Park Senior Center.
