GENE WATSON – SHOW OR NO-SHOW AT THE PALACE THEATER SATURDAY?

Some people are contacting CNF saying they’re confused.  As most know, the Palace Theater suffered some exterior brick damage this week when approximately 12 courses of bricks at the very top of the south wall fell into the roof.  The streets were closed off and the Palace was closed until further notice.  The showcase concert this Saturday was to feature legendary singer Gene Watson.  However, the Palace Theater posted on their official Facebook page Thursday that the Gene Watson concert had been canceled.

In the Palace’s statement on the cancellation of the Watson concert there’s no indication on the process to get a refund on tickets.

In addition to the Palace statement that the Watson Concert is canceled, Crossville City Manager Greg Wood told the Crossville Chronicle “We will not have a concert this weekend.”

Now we (CNF) have received information that the show may not be definitively canceled and possibly a decision won’t be made till sometime today (Friday) after the bricks that fell onto the roof have been removed to reveal the damage, if any to the roof. According to sources, at least six engineers have given approval and the Palace structure is sound. As a note: There is no rain in the forecast for Saturday night to factor in for possible leakage from the roof if there is any damage. As of Friday morning, tickets could still be purchased online through the Palace Theater web page for the Gene Watson concert. The official City of Crossville Web page shows the concert is still scheduled as of Friday morning at 1am. We checked Gene Watson’s official Web page and it still shows his concert day for Crossville this Saturday night.
