This weekend marked one year since the disappearance of Nikki Burgess. The 37-year-old model from Hermitage had a 10-year-old son. There still have been no arrests in the case, even though police suspect foul play.

Police have named 31-year-old Caleb Cannon a person of interest in the case.

Officers seized his car when two cadaver dogs alerted to the presence of human decomposition in the trunk, but Burgess’ body has not been found and Cannon has not been charged.

Nikki’s friends said they now rely on their memories of her to get them through.

“Nikki was the life of the party, the loudest, most boisterous, most fun person,” said Brittany McCann, Nikki’s friend. “She would not let you sit out on anything, she had the best ideas and everyone gathered around her because you knew you were going to have fun with Nikki.”

Cannon, the person of interest, is the father to Burgess’ 10-year-old son.  Over the past few months, both Burgess’ family and Cannon’s family have been locked in a custody battle over him. (NewsChannel5)
