FORMER LONG-TIME CUMBERLAND CO EDUCATOR PASSES

Long-time Cumberland County educator, Kaye Johnson, has passed away at 64.
Kaye was a graduate of Tennessee Tech University and received her Bachelor’s of Science in education, Magna Cum Laude. A beloved teacher at Crab Orchard Elementary School she enjoyed over 20 years of educating young people and impacted many generations of students.

Kaye was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ed and Vera Johnson, and her beloved dog of many years, Major. Kaye was an avid sports fan who loved the TN Vols and was a staunch Miami Dolphins supporter.

She is survived by her brothers Bill Johnson (Pamela) of San Luis Obispo California, Mack Johnson (Debbie) of Crossville and Mose Johnson as well as nieces and nephew Susan Blanks, Chris Johnson, April Herrington and Sarah Snider. She is also survived by one great nephew and two great nieces. She will also be missed greatly by her friend of 30 years Judy Smith.

Ever the teacher, Kaye chose to participate in the Anatomical Donations Program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she will to continue to teach posthumously.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday January 27, 2018 at Bilbrey’s Funeral Home at 1pm with visitation between 11-1.
