FORMER DISTRICT ATTORNEY REPRESENTING BUDGET INN OWNERS IN EVICTION CASE

Former District Attorney Randy York argued against the current District Attorney Bryant Dunaway Friday, asking to allow the owners of the recently condemned Budget Inn to return to their motel.  York was hired by the owners of Budget Inn to represent them.   Cumberland County Sheriff Casey Cox told CROSSVILLE NEWS FIRST that the hearing Friday was continued at the request of attorney York who said he needed more time to review the case.   The Budget Inn was closed down by authorities last week temporarily under the Tennessee Nuisance Law and the hearing is to determine if the motel will be allowed to re-open or remain closed permanently.  Judge McKenzie denied the request for the owners to return to the motel to stay but did grant the request by the owners, Hemantakumari Mukeschandra Patel and Mukeschandra Bhima Mistry, to return to the motel to get personal items and begin a clean up.  Sheriff Cox told CNF that in his opinion the motel should not be allowed to reopen. Cash, a gun, ammo, and drugs were seized from the motel in the   The hearing was postponed until Aug. 13 at 9 a.m.
