FIRST CASE OF MEASLES IN TN REPORTED IN SPARTA SCHOOL
The Director of Schools in White County has notified parents of a case of measles in the school community.
He suggests parents monitor their family’s health.
Measles is one of the most contagious diseases in the world.
It spreads easily through the air when an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes, with the virus surviving on surfaces or in the air for up to two hours.
Measles symptoms usually appear 7 to 14 days after exposure, beginning with high fever, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes.
