FIREWORKS EXPECTED AT TONIGHTS CITY COUNCIL MEETING, WATCH LIVE HERE ON CNF

While there are several important items on tonight’s City Council meeting such as sidewalk renovation, budget items and a discussion on an indoor recreational facility – what will probably be the most ‘vocal’ agenda item is Councilman Pete Souza requesting a discussion and action on rescinding the standing rules which were adopted at the March 10, 2016 meeting. Included in that resolution were limitations to an individual’s right to speak at council meetings and doing away with the council’s regular-called work sessions. Souza  feels that it is an assault on people’s right to limit their comments. Also, Council Member Jesse Kerley has requested information be presented at the meeting on a website which has been established by a group calling themselves “Crossville Citizens for Good Government”. Kerley wants to question Howard Burnette (sponsor of the Recall effort) about the website which was created to inform residents about petitions that are circulating calling for a recall referendum on Council Members Danny Wyatt and Pamela Harris be added to the November election ballot. That website, along with a Facebook page and signs placed throughout the City has been the topic of conversation among local’s for the past few weeks. Watch the meeting live tonight on Crossvillenews1st.com beginning at 6pm Ct.
