Knoxville TV is reporting that a 16-year-old boy who deputies say attacked a juvenile detention officer was found dead Saturday morning, according to Blount County Sheriff James Berrong. Authorities say it appears the boy died of a self-inflicted gunshot.

Deputies found Joseph Dillon French at Church Ave. and Sevierville Rd. just outside of downtown Maryville.
