Volunteer Energy customers will be seeing higher bills for the month of October. The Tennessee Valley Authority announced a rate change effective with the October 2015 billing and VEC also announced a rate increase in conjunction with the TVA increase. The combination of the TVA and VEC increases is expected to total about 3%, or about $3.00 for a customer who uses 1,000 kWh per month.

There has been a grass roots movement to have TVA’s top executives’ salaries lowered to help lower electric rates. Last year compensation packages for TVA top execs amounted to more than 10.8 million dollars annually.
