ELECTION ADMINISTRATOR RETIRES AFTER 39 YEARS OF SERVICE

One of Cumberland County’s longest serving public officials is retiring. Suzanne Smith was appointed Administrator of Elections by Winfield Dunn in the early 70’s. And, except for a two-year hiatus, she has been on the job some 39 years. Ms. Smith’s last day will be May 1st and the Election Commission is taking applications and resumes for the position until 4 PM this Friday afternoon. The Commission will meet to discuss all applicants on April 21st at 4 PM. The commission will also host a retirement reception with light refreshments and drinks for Ms. Smith Friday from 10am-3pm at the Election Commission Offices on Main St. across from the courthouse.
