EAST TN MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO BREAKING INTO 62 HOMES – SENTENCED 30 YEARS
A man who admitted Monday breaking into 62 area homes faces a 30-year prison sentence.
Paris James Long, 36, of Strawberry Plains pleaded guilty in Knoxville at a hearing in Knox County Criminal Court before Judge Scott Green.
Long, previously convicted of various crimes including DUI, was arrested in November by deputies for driving while on a revoked license. Once in custody he began cooperating with Knox County detectives, who’d suspected him of a number of burglaries.
He stole property valued at more than $133,000, according to the Knox County District Attorney General’s Office.
From August 2013 to October 2014, Long committed 62 “distinct” aggravated burglaries in the county, according to prosecutors. On Monday, he also pleaded guilty to 15 other offenses, bringing the total crime conviction number to 77, according to prosecutors.
Long cooperated with county investigators after he was arrested.
Detectives recovered 25 guns, jewelry, electronics, and other items stolen by Long. Much of it was returned to the owners.
