EARLY MORNING SHOOTING NEAR TSU CAMPUS SENDS THREE TO HOSPITAL

At least three people are in the hospital after a shooting early this morning near the Tennessee State University campus.

The shots erupted during an off-campus party outside an apartment building on Albion Street just after midnight.

Police say a few hundred people were there when a group of armed men arrived and were turned away.

Those people started shooting into the crowd of more than 100 people, picking random targets.

The victims are students from TSU, Vol State and MTSU.

One of the victims is in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The other two victims have minor gunshot wounds.

Police haven’t released a description of the suspects’ vehicle.

TSU is celebrating its homecoming this week, but it’s not clear if the party was directly related to the event.
