DUCK DUCK GONE – CROSSVILLE WOMAN UNSUCCESSFULLY EVADES ARREST AFTER SPEEDING THROUGH CHURCH PARKING LOT
CNF
On 04/24/2025 a CCSO observed a silver in color Mazda sedan on Genesis Rd traveling inbound. The Deputy observed the driver duck her head down under the door attempting to hide her face from being seen, which through the Deputy’s training and experience the Deputy determined was not normal behavior and is common behavior for someone involved in criminal activity. The Deputy then observed the driver pull into Shell gas station on Genesis Rd to try avoiding being pulled or followed which he knew was also common behavior for someone involved in criminal activity. The Deputy turned around on Genesis to observe where the vehicle had gone and observed the vehicle pull out of the Shell and back onto Genesis Rd inbound. Dispatch advised that the Registered Owner (Crystal Hyder) had a suspended license.
The Deputy observed the vehicle traveling at 61mph in a 40mph posted zone. He turned on emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle had sped through the parking lot of Simple Life Church at an aggressive speed but finally did stop after he pulled up behind the vehicle.
The Deputy instructed the driver to turn the vehicle off before approaching to further ensure that the driver of the vehicle would not flee. Due to the actions of the driver, identified as Crystal Hyder, he placed Crystal in ASP double-locked hinged handcuffs. He then gained consent to search Crystal’s person and located a plastic baggie containing a white crystal-like substance believed to be Methamphetamines inside her back pants pocket along with a yellow pill capsule with “D03” imprinted on it believed to be Gabapentin. He then performed a Probable Cause search of the vehicle which yielded another small baggie with a white crystal-like substance believed to be Methamphetamines, another capsule with “D03” imprinted on it believed to be Gabapentin, and a glass pipe with white residue commonly used to smoke Methamphetamines inside a striped make-up bag in the glovebox.
The Deputy seized the narcotics to be sent to TBI Lab for testing. A TBI Lab form was completed. The Deputy then searched, arrested, and transported Crystal to Cumberland County Intake for booking for Simple Possession of Methamphetamines, Simple Possession of Gabapentin, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving while Suspended.
