DOES IVERMECTIN HELP COVID-19 PATIENTS?

FROM VANDERBILT IMMUNOLOGIST COSBY STONE:
On the subject of Ivermectin for COVID:
Please, don’t pick on people too hard. There is information suggesting that ivermectin might be helpful for COVID, such that there is currently a clinical trial underway. We need to wait for those trial results to see whether the drug actually helps or not.

Until then, using ivermectin that way is off label and I wouldn’t recommend it.
Beyond that, people should never take medications that are dosed or formulated for animals. There are enough differences in our physiology that animal formulations can be toxic to humans, and vice versa.
Also, in the meantime, people wanting to avoid the worst of COVID should get immunized. Studying a new therapy can be exciting, but preventing someone from ever getting sick enough to need such a therapy is a vastly superior approach.
