DETAILS ON DEADLY HIGH SPEED MOTORCYCLE PURSUIT IN CROSSVILLE FRIDAY
We now have more details of the deadly motorcycle pursuit Friday night in Crossville.
According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, an officer patrolling Taylors Chapel Road met a motorcycle driving in the opposite direction at a high rate of speed indicated by the officers radar.
The officer turned around to pull over the 2023 Kawasaki for a traffic stop and that’s when the biker took off at a very high speed running from the patrol car. The officer gave pursuit of the biker which had sped up even more driving the bike recklessly and passing several cars on the road. The biker, later identified as 25 year old Michael Miller of Crossville, continued into Crossville on Spruce Loop and ultimately headed outbound south on Lantana Road – still at a very high speed.
Other law enforcement units joined in the pursuit to try and stop Miller before he harmed himself or other motorists. All units involved lost sight of Miller on Lantana Road at Pigeon Ridge Road.
A short time later 911 Dispatch received a call that there had been a vehicle wreck just past South Cumberland Elementary School on Lantana Road. When officers and first responders arrived on the scene it was discovered the crash was indeed the same motorcycle that had failed to stop and eluded officers. The THP report indicated the motorcyclist was Michael Miller and that he had failed to negotiate a curve, hit a concrete barrier and went airborne crashing into a parked pickup truck, killing Mr. Miller.
