On February 26, 2025, at approximately 5:23 pm, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a property owner on Rodgers Cemetery Rd, off of Bryant Ridge Rd in the Baxter area of Putnam County. The caller reported that they were driving around their property when they noticed what appeared to be a human body lying in the field.

PCSO Deputies responded to the scene and verified that in fact it was a human individual and was deceased. A short time later, the body was identified as James Russell Solomon, 53 years of age, of Jackson County. Mr. Russell was recently released from Jackson County Jail on February 24, 2025, for an Aggravated Domestic Assault charge.

PCSO Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an investigation as to what occurred that led to Mr. Russell’s death. Mr. Russell’s body has been sent for an autopsy.
