CUMBERLAND COUNTY WOMAN IN A SLEW OF TROUBLE IN TWO COUNTIES AFTER ONSTAR LEADS TO HER LOCATION

On May 1st, 2024, a Cumberland County Sherriff’s Deputy received a name and number from dispatch in reference to a stolen vehicle from Sparta Hwy. Upon making contact with the caller, she stated she wanted to report her son’s truck had been stolen. The caller stated she had last seen the truck parked in the driveway on April 30th, 2024, the day before around 6:00 p.m. The truck in question was a 2023 Chevy 2500HD crew cab silver in color.

The caller stated she had contacted her son to ask if he had let anyone borrow the vehicle and he stated that he had not. The Deputy then made contact with the caller’s son and asked if he may know of anyone that may have access to the vehicle. He stated that he had not given anyone permission to take the vehicle, and that the keys were in his house on the dresser. The Deputy asked the caller’s son if the vehicle was equipped with OnStar and he stated that the vehicle did in fact have OnStar and the service was active.

The Deputy contacted OnStar’s stolen vehicle department and asked if they would assist in locating the vehicle. OnStar put an ignition lock on the vehicle so that the vehicle could not be moved until the Deputy could determine if the truck was stolen. OnStar said the vehicle was showing at 112 Bright Hill St, Gills towing. When the Deputy made contact with the tow yard, they stated that they towed the vehicle for Dekalb County Sheriff’s office for a DUI stop.

The Deputy contacted Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office to see if he could get the name of the subject that was arrested. They informed him that the subject’s name was Skylar Fox, and that he would have to call back the next day to speak with her as the call had to be approved by their admin.

The Deputy then contacted the son and asked if he had given a woman by the name of Skylar Fox permission to drive his vehicle. He stated that no one had permission to be driving the vehicle and he had never heard of Skylar Fox. The Deputy contacted the mother and told her that he had located the truck, and that they could go retrieve it at their convenience.

The next day the Deputy made contact with Skylar Fox after the call was approved by admin and she was adamant that she had spoken with the caller’s son and did not want to talk to the Deputy about what happened. The Deputy gave Skylar the son’s phone number so that she could contact him.

After they had a chance to speak, the Deputy and the son spoke once again and the son identified the subject to be not Skylar Fox but actually Shadayda Farris. He stated she admitted to entering the house getting the keys off the dresser in his bedroom and taking the vehicle. The Deputy then contacted the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and asked intake to fax Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office a face sheet so that the suspect could be identified. The Deputy then contacted Dekalb County and the jail Administrator informed him that the suspect was indeed Shadayda Farris and that they would be charging her with impersonation along with the DUI and introduction.

A Dekalb Deputy then wrote warrants on Shadayda Farris for Theft over $60,000 dollars and Aggravated Burglary and a hold was then placed on Shadayda Farris for Cumberland County.
