CUMBERLAND COUNTIANS VOICE OUTRAGE OVER BOE FIRING OF DOS BILLY STEPP
The Cumberland County Board of Education in a five to four vote last night voted to not renew Director of Schools Billy Stepps contract, essentially getting rid of him as the DOS.
Since the posting of the story on social media last night there have been thousands of Cumberland Countians voice their outrage over the BOE’s action. Parents and teacher alike have voiced that Billy Stepp has been the best DOS Cumberland County has employed. We’re conducting an investigation into why the five Board Members voted to not renew Mr. Stepps contract.
Below is a summary of the board members actions and their phone numbers if you want to call them to voice your opinon.
Anita Hale (4th District- 931-456-0263) made the motion to NOT renew his contract
and Jon Matthews (7th District – 931-287-9376) made the second on the motion.
Scott VanWinkle (2nd District 931-200-8511),
Elizabeth Stull (1st District 865-234-2284),
Nick Davis (5th District 423-881-3337) voted to not renew his contract.
The Director was supported by Chris King (6th), Shannon Stout (9th), Travis Cole (8th), and Sheri Nichols (3rd).
