CROSSVILLE WOMAN STEALS TWO FISHING POLES AT WALMART IS STOPPED WHEN TRYING TO LEAVE OUT REAR OF STORE; GOES BACK THROUGH AND STEALS ANOTHER AND GETS AWAY

On 05-21-2023 a city officer responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifting that occurred on 05-20-2023. He made contact with loss prevention who stated that a woman wearing a mask, blue shirt, pants and shoes came into Walmart on 05-20-2023, took one fishing pole, and exited the front of the store passing all points of sale. The woman then went to the side of the building to a gray Mazda and an employee was able to positively identify the tag.

Loss prevention showed the security footage of the event to the officer, who observed the woman enter Walmart through the tire and lube doors. The woman went straight to the fishing poles and grabbed two different poles and attempted to exit the garden center doors; but was stopped by an employee. The employee took the two poles from the woman who then turned around and went back to the fishing poles grabbing just one pole. The woman then went to the front of the store passing all points of sale and left the store through the front doors. Once the woman exited Walmart she was observed getting into a gray Mazda and leaving the parking lot.

The officer advised dispatch the tag number and the tag came back to a gray Mazda that was registered to a female that resided on Cleveland Street. Assisting city units went to the residence to make contact with the woman but found the residence to be vacated. 

The total value of the merchandise was $43.76. The woman could not be identified. The security footage was placed into evidence at the Crossville Police Department.
