CROSSVILLE WOMAN RANTS ABOUT WEDDINGS AND DEATH CANDLES WHILE ATTEMPTING TO FLING STOLEN ITEMS OUT OF CAR

On February 10, 2024, City units responded to Food City on West Ave. for a theft report. Before arriving on scene dispatch advised that management was in the parking lot with the female who concealed items in the store and left without paying for them. Dispatch stated the female got into a gray car and the managers were standing behind the vehicle.

A City Officer arrived on scene with other Officers and made contact with the management first. They advised a female and male walked towards Advanced Auto store and the female involved in the theft was inside the car. The Officer made contact with the female sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle. He opened the passenger door and began speaking with the female and she began throwing items from inside the vehicle, talking about weddings and death candles and was unable to sit still or answer any questions he had for her so the Officer determined the female was under the influence of an unknown substance. He asked her to step out of the vehicle and she told him to step out. He told her again to exit the vehicle and she continued to throw things out of the vehicle and attempted to push them under another vehicle beside hers. The Officer instructed her one more time to get out of the vehicle and she finally began to comply. Or so they thought.

Once she stepped out of the vehicle she began throwing her arms around and instantly became hostile and belligerent towards the Officers. She began cursing and yelling with multiple people observing, including children. Two of the Officers got the female’s arms and attempted to place them behind her back to detain her but she instantly pulled away from Officers and began to resist. She began to climb on the bumper of the vehicle as Officers were placing Handcuffs on her. She finally was secured with her hands cuffed behind her and then was searched.  During the search she continued to scream and curse with children and people around. She was then placed in the rear of the patrol vehicle and seat belted in.

Food City employees located some of the stolen items laying in the parking lot next to the vehicle which she was sitting in. The vehicle was determined to be hers. They also were also able to observe her on CCTV concealing the items and leaving the store.

Another officer located the other two subjects who were with her but not involved in the theft. The male stated the suspect’s name was Brittany Parkhurst. The subjects not involved were free to leave and the Officer transported Ms. Parkhurst to intake where she was charged by Food City for the theft with the value of $17.58 and the Officer charged her with Public Intoxication and Resisting Arrest. Once at intake she was instantly escorted to a holding cell due to her being combative towards Officers.
