CROSSVILLE WOMAN FOUND IN VEHICLE UNRESPONSIVE GASPING FOR AIR

On 04-14-2023 a city officer responded to East First St. in reference to a female unresponsive in a gray car. Upon arrival the officer and EMS made contact with a female who was slumped over gasping for air in the driver seat. EMS got the female out of the car to help further treat her and the officer went to his patrol vehicle to get a box of narcan because of the female showing signs of an overdose. The officer then gave two doses of his narcan to EMS and they gave the female the two doses in her right nostril. EMS asked for the officer to locate her ID and to find anything in the vehicle that she could have used to cause the overdose so they would be able to give her proper medical treatment.

While looking in the vehicle, the officer observed that the keys were in the ignition and a small wallet was in the passenger seat. While searching through the wallet the officer located a one dollar bill folded up with a rolling paper inside that was also folded up containing approximately 0.48GM of gray powdery substance that he suspected to be narcotics. Also in the wallet a Tennessee ID was found that identified her as Ms. Ashley Miller. The officer then gave dispatch her ID number in which they gave a return of her driver license status as suspended.

After Ms. Miller refused further medical care the officer then read Miranda rights to her during which she stated that she wanted a lawyer present. The officer then stopped questioning her and placed her into the back of his patrol car and transported her to the Justice Center to begin the book in process. While at the Justice Center the officer tested the gray powdery substance which tested positive for heroin. Due to Ms. Miller being in the driver seat with the keys in the ignition the officer applied for and was granted a search warrant for two vials of Ms. Ashley Miller blood.  The officer then transported her to CMC in which she gave her blood without issue and then was transported back to the Justice Center to continue the book in process.
