CROSSVILLE WOMAN ATTACKS NIECE WITH LEAD PIPE WHILE SHE WAS IN THE SHOWEER

CCSD REPORT:

On 04/09/2025 at or around 2015 hours, I was dispatched to 1608 Cox Valley Rd in response to a physical domestic in progress. While en route, I was informed by dispatch that a woman, who was identified as Lara Stepp, was chasing Macey Stepp, her niece, through the house with a lead pipe. Upon arrival at or around 2023
hours, I made my way to the house’s front entrance, where I could hear loud yelling from within, and through the
screen door, I observed an older woman with a lead pipe in her hand. I then made entry to the house and
commanded the female holding the pipe to drop the weapon on the ground and sit down, which de-escalated the
situation. The female observed with the pipe was identified as Lara Stepp. I then made contact with Macey Stepp,
who was in the back of the house and was informed by her that Lara had broken into the bathroom while she was
showering, ripped the curtain down, pressed her against the wall while wielding the lead pipe which had been
reported in the 911 call and observed by me upon my arrival under her arm and then proceeded to threaten her and
cut the pipes to the shower with pipe cutters she held in her hand.

This event caused Macey to fear for her own
personal safety. I then spoke with Bobby Jolly, Macey’s boyfriend, who was present for the entire event. Bobby
corroborated her story and stated that Lara’s behavior while possessing the pipe cutters and lead pipe placed him in
fear for Macey’s safety as well. After gathering all this information and considering all the factors at play, I
determined that Lara Stepp was the primary aggressor in the situation and placed her under arrest for Domestic
Assault 39-13-111. At this point, Deputy Leary arrived on the scene and collected voluntary statements while I
transported Lara Stepp to 90 Justice Center Drive to be booked into jail. While in transport, I notified Lara of her
Miranda rights; she stated that she understood and agreed to answer questions about the incident. Lara stated that
earlier in the day, Deputies had been at her residence, 1608 Cox Valley Rd, because Lara was trying to make Macey
and Bobby leave. Deputies told her she would need a legal eviction notice for this to happen, so she was frustrated
and can be quoted saying, “That just cause I gotta let em live there doesn’t mean I gotta let em shower, so that’s why
I went in there to cut the pipes.” She also admitted to bringing the pipe with her to “protect herself.”
