POLICE: CROSSVILLE TEEN TOLD TO LEAVE HOME AT 3AM WHILE PARENTS GET DRUNK, COUPLE CHARGED

Two people have been charged with child neglect after police found a 14-year-old teenage boy walking along 127 North in Crossville Saturday morning at 3am.  The boy explained to officer’s that his parents told him to leave because they were drinking.  The teen also said Wal-Mart was the only place he knew he could spend the night.  Police contacted the mother who chastised the officers for waking her up then said the boy was supposed to be at his grandmother’s house. Both parents appeared to be intoxicated at the time of their interrogation. The report indicated that DCS had been investigating allegations of child abuse in the home.  Heather Dawn Thornton and Alex Shane Thornton were charged with child neglect.    DCS was also notified.
