According to official reports from the TBI, 19 suspects were indicted on drug charges Friday including an officer with the Crossville Police Department.  No information was given on the specific charges each of the suspects face.

Crossville News First has learned that Crossville Police Officer Aaron Campbell was not arrested on drug charges specifically. The arrest warrant served on Officer Campbell specifies “money laundering’ as the charge. Under Tennessee Code 39-14-903 a person can be charged with money laundering if he or she knowingly uses proceeds from a “specified unlawful activity.” It is up to the prosecutors to prove the suspect ‘knowingly’ used proceeds from the unlawful activities.  The details which led to Campbell becoming a suspect cannot be disclosed publicly yet for legal purposes although Officer Campbell says he was not involved with the drug investigation that spanned 14 months.  According to sources, no property or possessions were confiscated from Campbell.  22 year old Campbell was hired as an officer with the Crossville Police Department in February of this year and has been put on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of the investigation. He was taken into custody without incident Friday and released on a ten thousand dollar bond.
