CROSSVILLE POLICE OFFICER CALLED “A FLYING MONKEY”

On 11/29/22 City Units were dispatched to Food City for a male subject that was asleep in the
cafeteria at the table. I was informed by staff that the male subject had been coming in and out of the store all day and had gotten aggressive with an employee and when asked to leave they had noticed a strong odor
of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. I made contact with the subject who was identified as David Cobb. I attempted wake Mr. Cobb but he was unresponsive. After multiple attempts to wake him by talking and moving him, I grabbed him and lightly shook him trying to make him respond. He awoke and was extremely slow and lethargic. While I was speaking to him I observed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person, he had red watery eyes and was slurring his speech.

I walked him out of the store as the store did not want him there. Once outside I placed him Into custody. Food City banned Mr.Cobb from the store. He was transported to the Cumberland County jail. While transporting him to intake he was making spontaneous utterances that he demanded me to be in court, to call the D.A., kept asking me to smile, thanked me for arresting him and called me a “flying monkey.”
