CROSSVILLE HAS NEW MAYOR AND FIRST ELECTED WOMAN COUNCILMEMBER
Crossville voters made their voice heard yesterday and elected a new City Mayor. James Mayberry, a longtime businessman beat incumbent Mayor J.H.Graham III by 1400 to 951 votes. This ends a 16 year run for Graham as Mayor of Crossville. Mayberry, owner of Mayberry Furniture will be continuing a family tradition in government service. His father was Mayor in the 50’s as well as City Councilman many decades ago. James’ brother also served on the City Council in years past. Pamala Harris was voted in as Crossville’s first elected woman Councilmember. She is not the first woman to serve on the Council though. That was Doris Vinas who was appointed to serve the remaining term of A.V Dodson in 1984. Pamala Harris was the top vote getter in a five way race for two City Council seats held by George Marlow and Danny Wyatt. Wyatt was second top vote getter and retained his seat while Marlow lost his bid for re-election. The unofficial tally: Pamala Ann Harris 1003 Danny R. Wyatt 888 Kyle Davis 783 Terry White 715 George M. Marlow 606
