CROSSVILLE MAN THROWS KEYS IN WOMAN’S FACE DURING ARGUMENT OVER AFFAIR

On May 6th, 2024, Sherriff’s Deputies responded to Creston Road in reference to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, one of the Deputies made contact with the Complainant who stated while arguing over an affair, she asked 45 year-old Luis Almaraz Garcia for her vehicle keys. She further stated that Luis threw the set of keys and struck her in the right side of the face. The Deputy did observe a large red mark on the right side of her face consistent with her statement. The Deputy then spoke with Luis where he read him his Miranda Rights to which he agreed to continue speaking with the Deputy. Luis stated that the two had only verbally argued, and he did not throw the keys at the Complainant.

Upon further investigation, the Deputy determined Luis to be the primary aggressor in the incident due to the statements made to him, and the visible red mark on the right side of the Complainant’s face. The Deputy placed Luis under arrest and transported him to the Cumberland County Justice Center for booking on the listed charge.

The Deputy then read Luis the bond conditions to which he signed acknowledging he understood them.

The Deputy put the Complainant in contact with the Avalon Center, obtained a written statement from her regarding the incident, and also obtained photographs of the visible
mark on the Complainant’s face.
