Upon arrival the officer made contact with the manager who stated that an employee located a pistol in the men’s room hanging on a hanger. The employee retrieved the firearm and brought it to him for safe keeping until city units responded to the scene.
The serial number from a Beretta .380 was given to dispatch, in which they confirmed the firearm not to be registered. The Beretta .380 , one black magazine, and eight .380cal ammo rounds were taken and a property receipt was given to the manager.
On June 26, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. a city officer responded to the Crossville Police Department to meet a male that was stating that he left his firearm at Kroger. While speaking to the officer the man stated that he went to use the bathroom and when he attempted to readjust his pants he took a Beretta .380 out of it’s holster placing it on a hanger. He then left without the firearm.
Due to the Beretta .380 not being registered the officer asked him if he could describe the firearm and if he knew the serial number. The man described the firearm in detail but did not know the serial number. The officer called Kroger to verify the male that went into their store first to retrieve the firearm and they confirmed, describing what the man was wearing. The officer returned the Beretta .380, one black magazine and eight .380cal rounds to the man and had him sign a property receipt to which a copy was given to him.
