CROSSVILLE MAN ARRESTED AFTER HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES

On February 14, 2024 a city unit was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Stanley Street and West Avenue. The victim had described a white 4 door Dodge Ram Truck traveling towards East First Street with a Hispanic male driver and while en route to the accident scene the officer observed a white Dodge Ram 1500 4 door traveling east on East First Street. The vehicle then turned left onto Netherton Lane.

The officer caught up to the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Netherton Court and the vehicle pulled into a driveway on Netherton Court. The officer identified the driver as Mr. Pascual Jose Lelasco (DOB 04-17-78). Dispatch confirmed Mr. Lelasco to be revoked for DUI. Mr. Lelasco had red watery eyes and an alcoholic odor coming from his person. At that time, Mr. Lelasco was told he was under arrest and to step out of the vehicle.

By this time a second officer had arrived on scene and both officers had to assist Mr. Lelasco out of the vehicle to place him into custody. Once in custody, Mr. Lelasco was unsteady on his feet and had to be assisted to the patrol car. On the passenger side of the truck there was matching damage, consistent with the damage to the other vehicle and the statement from the victim. The victims in the other vehicle were identified and an officer spoke to one of the victims over the phone, who stated she was treated for muscle spasms in her back and the other victim was treated for bruised ribs and whiplash from the accident.

The second officer who had arrived on the scene then transported Mr. Lelasco to the Cumberland County Justice Center while the first went to the Commissioner’s Office to apply for a Search Warrant for a blood draw. The Search Warrant was granted by the Commissioner and blood was extracted and placed into 2 vials which were placed into evidence at the Crossville Police Department.

Mr. Lelasco was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Driving on Revoked, Reckless Endangerment x2, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
