On August 5, 2023 while on patrol on Highway 70 East a City officer came upon a male laying in the middle of the street. Due to the light conditions and the dark color clothing he was wearing the officer was not able to see him until the last second and had to perform evasive maneuvers in order to avoid hitting him.

The officer made contact with the male who identified himself as Michael Ziglar. Mr. Ziglar stated that he was trying to play a prank on his girlfriend by laying in the middle of the road. Upon further investigation the officer discovered Mr. Ziglar had spent the evening drinking at Bootleggers bar down the street. Due to his reckless decision making and knowledge of him consuming alcohol the officer determined Mr. Ziglar to be a danger to himself and to others and placed him into custody. The officer then transported him to the Cumberland County Justice Center where he applied for and was granted a warrant on Mr. Ziglar for public intoxication and then served the warrant on him at intake.
