CROSSVILLE HIRES INTERIM POLICE CHIEF

download (8)The City of Crossville has chosen a new ‘interim’ Police Chief.  After 20 years as Crossville’s Police Chief, David Beaty will be retiring at the end of this month.  City Manager Rutherford wanted to hire an interim Chief on a trial basis.  There were ten applicants for the position.  The applicant chosen to be the interim Chief is Rodney Shoap of Columbia Tennessee.  According to the press release from the City, Mr. Shoap  brings over 28 years of law enforcement to the position. He is retired from the Lee County, Florida Sheriff’s department. He held various positions within the department, including Sheriff from 2000-2004. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and an Associate of Science degree in Criminology. He is a graduate of the 178th session of the FBI National Academy, Southern Police Institute and a certified law enforcement officer in the state of Tennessee and Florida.  His first day as Interim Police Chief will be Wednesday, January 28th.
