CROSSVILLE COUNCIL TO CONSIDER BUYING VILLAGE INN

Crossville City Council is considering purchasing the Village Inn.  That’s the hotel in downtown where an eviction debacle by the City forced all the tenants out within a few hours earlier this year.

As it turns out – the city wasn’t allowed by law to evict the tenants and they were allowed back into their rooms the next day. The Village Inn has been the source of controversy for years with police called to the inn on a regular basis to investigate reported illegal drug activity. Now, the owner, Dr.Robert Wood, has presented the city council with a proposition to buy the village inn for $450,000.  The council will take that matter up in a work session this Tuesday evening, 5 PM at City Hall.  It is unclear what the City would do with the Inn if the purchase was made.
