Several turned out today for the Patriotic Celebration on the Cumberland County Courthouse lawn today.  Speakers including the Sheriff, Legislators, City Mayor and historians, clergy and others read the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, Gettysburg Address and other historical writings along City Police presenting the colors and singers of the National Anthem.  Afterwards food was provided by Lefty’s Bar-B-Que.  The annual event is spearheaded by Pine Eden Baptist Church and many volunteers and local sponsors. Another gathering is scheduled for tomorrow morning on the Courthouse lawn to celebrate America with music and, again Bar-B-Que, pizza and Wendy’s food.
