CROSSVILLE BUSINESSMAN KILLED IN TWO VEHICLE ACCIDENT THIS MORNING
A two vehicle accident on 127 South this morning just after 9am took the life of a Crossville businessman. Woody Mercer was driving south on highway 127 South when his Toyota Pick up apparently hydroplaned and crashed head on into a flat bed truck. Mercer’s vehicle then spun around and hit the guard rail at Byrds Creek Bridge. Mercer was pronounced dead at the scene. Mercer owned and operated Cumberland Mountain Stone company in Crossville. Coincidentally, the flat bed rock truck belonged to another stone company in Crossville, Silvara Stone Company. That truck was being driven by David Cooper who sustained non-life threatening injuries.
