COVID CASES DRAMATICALLY ON THE RISE IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
Almost a thousand new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the last month in Cumberland County. The cases are rising at an astronomical rate in the county. Whether it’s the Delta Variant or the normal COVID virus, the number of new cases is rising out of control. There isn’t a clear answer to any of this. Cumberland County has had approximately 40 percent of the population vaccinated thus far. There are still a great many who refuse to be get vaccinated for one reason or another. From most of the so-called experts, the vaccination does not prevent one from getting COVID – but may – might – perhaps reduce the severity of the symptoms. Then there are some who say the vaccine itself is dangerous. We’re not going to side with anyone here – for if there is one thing we’ve learned in the last year and a half – no one knows anything for sure. Our only advice is to be careful and keep away from people as much as you can who might have the virus. Masks aren’t a sure thing – but they may help “hinder” the transmission of the virus from one person to the other. Basically, anything you can do to keep from inhaling others’ exhaled breaths could help keep you from getting the virus. If you believe the ‘experts’ 98 percent of those being tested positive for COVID now are people who have NOT been vaccinated.
IF that is the case – perhaps you should rethink your vaccinating policy and get vaccinated. IF it is not true – then, sadly, there is nothing to be done to prevent the high possibility of getting the virus except stay away from everyone. Especially if you don’t believe the ‘experts’. Otherwise, at the current rate of transmission – it looks like the majority of us will contract COVID one way or the other.

I don’t know who wrote this article but they need to do some research. They pretty much sound like they don’t believe “the so called experts”. People need to be encouraged to do the right thing not be told no one really knows anything. Do some interviews with the Drs., nurses and respiratory therapists that are dealing with this every day. You sound like my neighbor that has COVID and says it’s not that bad. Tell that to the people in ICU.

To the person who wrote this article you are basically saying what most are feeling the uncertainty is valid. What no one has mentioned is out of all the positive cases how many have died ? That percentage is why 60% of people in Cumberland county have NoT gotten the vaccine. It’s not about how many deaths were ok with but the fact that we know people will die just like they have been from other viruses there is no cure for this virus, and you can still get and share COVID with the vaccine .This fear mongering needs to stop it’s been over politicized and the division is real.

Yeah, don’t believe epidemiologists or virologists. This is going to get much worse before it remotely gets better. Get vaccinated and wear a damn mask.

What may be occurring is the fact that the vaccine loses its effectiveness after several months. It would be interesting to know the actual percentages of people previously vaccinated who are now testing positive for COVID. Statistically, 98% as reported recently by Mayor Foster appears to be significantly overstated given the numerous reports worldwide that show, similar to the Massasschussets breakthrough where 74% had been previously vaccinated, more and more vaccinated individuals are contracting the virus. Since many people in Cumberland County received the vaccine over a year ago, the loss of effectiveness may be contributing to the large numbers of new infections. Add to this the poor results (false positives and false negatives) of the PCR test and no one knows who to believe. Don’t panic. This too shall pass.
