COUPLE FOUND DEAD IN HOT TUB IN GATLINBURG PROBABLY DOUBLE SUICIDE

1hottub (1)According to preliminary autopsy reports Jon Levin and Myra Smith-Findell could have died from a possible drowning in a hot tub with no significant trauma or injury. Both victims also had various health conditions.

The reports detail that Levin of Oak Ridge had an enlarged heart with four chamber dilation, narrowing of arteries, a fatty liver disease, and increased fibrosis.

The report also says Smith-Findell of Corbin, Kentucky, had cardiovascular disease, an enlarged heart, narrowing of arteries, and a fatty liver disease.

The findings of the report may be changed or revised after more testing.

Investigators are also waiting on the toxicology report to rule on the cause of death.

Levin and Smith-Findell were found dead in the hot tub at a Gatlinburg rental cabin on April 9. The cabin was located at 820 Resort Way.

Levin was a professor at the University of Tennessee. The UT Department of Physics said a scholarship is being set up for Levin.

The Physics Department and UT Developments Office established the scholarship in his memory, the university said.
The circumstances surrounding the cause is still being investigated. Officials say no foul play is suspected.
