Things got heated during the Monday night meeting of the Cumberland County Commission. It was standing room only with the chambers full of protesters of the proposed wind turbine farm at Crab Orchard.  The protesters cited adverse cosmetic and environmental impact the wind turbines would create in the area.  Media sources report that Jim Martin of Millstone Mountain Road spoke to the Commission and suggested the Commission had “sold out” to Apex Energy. Martin said it was like a woman selling her body and went as far as to call the Commission “industrial whores”.  County Mayor Kenneth Carey Jr. then stopped Martin telling him he was out of order.  Interim 9th District Commissioner Sandra Dutcher then made a motion to place the wind turbine project on last night’s agenda for discussion the report says. The motion failed 11 to 5.
