Country star Craig Morgan’s son missing in Tennessee River

DICKSON, TN (WSMV) –

As the search continues for country singer Craig Morgan’s son, many in Dickson County are struggling to comprehend the tragedy.

Jerry Greer, 19, went missing after a boating accident Sunday afternoon near Mason’s Boat Dock and Marina in Humphreys County.

Morgan and his family live in Dickson County.

David Teutschman remembered growing up with Greer.

“I met him probably around fourth or fifth grade, little league basketball,” Teutschman said.

Teutschman learned of the accident early Monday morning. His mother woke him up and told him about his longtime friend and teammate.

“As soon as I started messaging people on Twitter, it just kind of hit me,” Teutschman said.

Teutschman remembered Greer as a class clown who was always cracking jokes and making people laugh.

“Jerry was hysterical,” he said. “If he was in the room, he was the center of attention. He made sure of it.”

The two played football together in high school with Greer’s younger brother.

Though the family was well known around Dickson, Teutschman said Greer never bragged about his father’s fame.

“He was just one of us,” Teutschman said. “Especially when you grow up around him and Craig Morgan being in our town, nobody was like, “Craig Morgan is here.” We were just kind of used to it at that point.”

As the search effort continues, Teutschman is preparing for the worst while waiting on any sign of hope.

“Part of me wants to know he’s still around, but if not, I had the best of times with him and I’d do anything to go back and spend more time with him,” he said.

Another one of Greer’s friends told Channel 4 he is in Florida, but is rushing back to be with the family. He said they are asking for privacy right now, but many people are heartbroken and trying to reach out to show support.
