CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION TUESDAY TO DISCUSS PROPOSED RECREATION CENTER

The Crossville City Council is scheduled to meet for a work session Tuesday at 5pm.  Part of the agenda includes discussion of the proposed 40 million dollar recreation center for downtown.  The city has been getting some push back from citizens on the massive price tag for building the indoor rec center.  The City has approached the YMCA to operate the facility and pitch in 10 million dollars.  There are still more questions than answers on how the City will afford the construction and upkeep of the rec center without putting the city into severe financial debt over time which may sacrifice funds for more needed projects such as new sidewalks which are required before TDOT will rebuild the much dilapidated Main Street.  The rec center is more than three times the cost of any other previous City project expenditure. The public is invited to attend the work session Tuesday.
