CHILD PORN PRODUCER SEAN WILLIAMS WHO LED AUTHORITIES ON MONTH LONG MANHUNT ATTEMPTS SUICIDE AFTER 2 HOURS BACK IN EAST TN

The U.S. Marshals Service said Sean Williams, who led authorities on a monthlong manhunt, tried to kill himself around two hours after arriving in Blount County Jail

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — The man accused of producing child pornography before breaking out of a prison van in Greeneville and leading authorities on a monthlong manhunt is back in East Tennessee. Soon after arriving, authorities said Sean Williams tried to kill himself and is now being held at a hospital, according to a press release from the U.S. Marshals Service.

Williams was originally scheduled to appear in federal court in Greeneville on Dec. 21.

He was extradited to East Tennessee from Florida and arrived at the Blount County Jail Tuesday afternoon. The U.S. Marshals Service said when he arrived, he was placed in an isolation cell under heavy supervision.

However, around two hours after arriving at the jail, the U.S. Marshals Service said Williams tried to kill himself. Authorities said medical workers stabilized him and took him to a hospital where he was being treated for a “puncture type wound.”

Authorities said they did not know what he used to try to kill himself. They also said the incident was under investigation.

While at the hospital, Williams will guarded by deputies from the Blount County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals.

Specific information about Williams’ condition and whether the suicide would impact his court date was not immediately available. This story will be updated when more information is available.
