CHATTANOOGA SOCCER TEAM SUED BY ARKANSAS COLLEGE, TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT
A judge has decided against the Chattanooga Red Wolves in a claim by Arkansas State University saying the soccer club’s logo and name are both too similar to the college’s.
A judge with the US Patent and Trademark Office ruled that the two logos and names would likely cause confusion
Representatives for Arkansas State University (ASU) sent a letter to the Chattanooga Red Wolves, asking the professional soccer team to cease and desist using the “Red Wolves” trademark, which ASU claims is its own.
The ASU letter, written in the fall of 2018, says the Red Wolves’ “unauthorized use of the Univesrity’s RED WOLVES(r) Work Mark in this manner constitutes a violation of federal and state law as trademark infringement and unfair competition,” saying the Red Wolves’ similar name and logo would mislead the public into thinking the team is affiliated with ASU.
