CCHS STUDENT ARRESTED FOR ‘THREATENING VIOLENCE’
On Thursday, December 2, 2021 Crossville Police Department officers were dispatched to Cumberland County High School in reference to a disorderly juvenile student. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a student had threatened physical violence against staff members and teachers, as well as the officers when they made contact.
The student would not comply with the officer’s attempts gain control of the situation stating that “It would take all 5 [of them] to make an arrest.” The student, at 6’4” and approx. 240 lbs., had threatened violence and was fully capable of inflicting injury to staff, officers, bystanders and ultimately to the student’s own person. After attempting to take the juvenile into custody, and upon facing active physical resistance from the student, a Less-Lethal CEW (Taser) was employed to gain control of the unruly student, lessening the likelihood of physical injury. The student was lowered to the ground, where handcuff restraints could be applied and the student was then able to be taken into custody without further incident.
Cumberland County EMS was called to the school, to ensure the student was not injured, prior to transport to the Cumberland County Juvenile Detention Office. The incident is still under investigation and due to the juvenile involvement, no other information can be released at this time.

Translation: cops use excessive force then spin the tale to make them look good and the kid bad. Most American cops are goofs.

Ya that’s rediculious! 3 cops felt that threatened, you shouldn’t be cops then! Plus why was he being detained in the first place? If he had threats expell him and call parents to pick up…

I back them too 100%. The police did an excellent job, the kid needs to learn to obey simple plain commands. Good job CPD!

So you wouldn’t mind being cuffed and thrown in jail just because an officeR says so?

Maybe we need to train our teachers and officers how to deal with our children when they are at school because this is unacceptable.

Maybe somebody should have done a better job raising their kid? Seems like you are putting the parent’s failure on teachers and police solely because they had to clean up somebody else’s failure

EXACTLY! That’s the major societal problem in this country today. no one is responsible for their own personal actions. It’s always someone else’s, or more accurate everyone else’s, fault. You couldn’t pay me enough money to be a LEO, or teacher, in this country.

This story is blatantly biased, and is a disgrace to journalism and reporting. This kid tried to refuse gym and got TASED for it. There’s video footage where not once does the teenager in question get violent. He then states “I didn’t do any wrong” over and over again and the police officers attempt to arrest him and then tase him. I hope that police department gets sued for everything they’re worth. Maybe then they’ll learn to educate their cops on how to deescalate a situation involving a MINOR without violence. This school, police department, and the writer of this article who clearly did not report non objectively nor do their research should be ashamed.

Put paddling back in schools and teach respect or better yet inforce a boot camp for all kids when out of school to teach manners and respect.

Despite the situation the kid was in, there is zero reason to be making threats or suggesting that you can take anyone on. That is obvious signs of clear thinking and violent intent. Either the parents, the staff that aid to the kid, or the kid himself should be taught better at dealing with the situation, not the officers. That was a better approach than just tackling the kid to the ground that would of resulted into more violence from the child.
